I have heard that trousers can be ridiculously hard to do - I think it depends on what type, like pj pants and (so I've heard) harem pants are easy enough, but anything that's more fitted is apparently very awkward. One woman in my sewing class started a pair, but they gave her a ton of problems.
Making and modding your own clothes goes SO MUCH BETTER when you have a sewing machine, otherwise I think you generally get stuck cutting up t-shirts and stuff, which is fine, but does get boring after a while, ahaha.
